Cedar Park PTC Board: August Meeting in Review

Your 2019-20 PTC Board, along with CPMS principal, Shannon Anderson, were hard at work last week, meeting for the first time this school year to set goals, confirm calendars, and get this year started out right.

Here are some Board goals that you can expect:

  • Content-focused PTC meetings that are both relevant & informative to our community, including a high school options night, a Canas/Parentvue training, and an online safety presentation.

  • Continued budget transparency as the PTC utilitzes 5K funds to improve Cedar Park.  Ongoing projects for 2019-20 include rebuilding the front sign, continued improvements to library furniture, additional whiteboard table purchases for math classrooms, and sound system upgrade in the cafeteria. This year’s budget also includes a classroom supply budget of $75 for every classroom teacher at CPMS, as well as a $7150 School-Wide Discretionary Fund, overseen by Dr. Anderson.

  • Organized and on-time communication of our events, volunteer needs, and PTC business.  Look for our Cedar Reader: PTC Edition newsletter every month (third Friday), alternating with the school’s Cedar Reader (first Friday). The Cedar Park PTC is also now using Google for Nonprofits G Suite to improve our historical handoff and organize ourselves internally.

Join us at our first PTC event, a Cedar Park Meet & Greet, on Monday, 9/23 at 7pm. And don’t forget about our biggest (and only!) fundraiser of the year, the Cedar Park 5K, scheduled for Thursday, 10/3.
