Volunteer coordinator needed for 2018-19

This June, several dedicated volunteer leaders will be moving on from CPMS and the spring is a crucial time for incoming leads to shadow their outgoing counterparts.

A critical role available next year is CPMS’s Volunteer Coordinator.  The Volunteer Coordinator oversees CPMS’s volunteer needs, but is not responsible to plan and organize every volunteer activity.

Here’s a quick education on what that role entails:

  • Serves a one year term

  • Can be shared between one to two parents

  • Promotes & encourages volunteer activities, including managing the district volunteer software (training provided)

  • Attends one BSD Parent Group Leadership training

  • Organizes the fall’s Volunteer Orientation

  • Acts as a liaison between the PTC and CPMS regarding volunteer needs

  • Create and maintain volunteer badges as needed

Several individual committees are also seeking leadership in 2018-19, including:

(UPDATED 4/18)

  • Student Socials Liaison

  • Back to School Picnic

  • Wolf Day Liaison

  • Directory

  • Family Fun Day

  • 8th Grade End of Year Celebration

More info regarding these volunteer committees can be found here.

The success and engagement of our Cedar Park community is powered by YOU-- the parents and community members willing to contribute their time and energy to the health of this organization.

If you are interested or would like to learn more regarding the Volunteer Coordinator, or any of these lead positions, please contact Angela Redmon (angelaredmon@gmail.com).

Wipe Out the Flu RESCHEDULED for 2/21

VOLUNTEERS & DONATIONS NEEDED!

Like many schools, CPMS has been hit hard by the flu. While our custodial staff is top notch, they are not prepared to deal with a flu outbreak.

We're having a drive to collect Clorox Wipes and engaging volunteers to come into every classroom on Wednesday the 21st at 2:30pm (when students are gone) to "WIPE DOWN" classroom desks and cafeteria tables. Let's WIPE OUT THE FLU!

Since students will be off campus we have fewer barriers and restrictions meaning, bring some friends. We've got around 50 classrooms plus the cafeteria and library so we'll need as many hands as possible.

Clorox (or generic brand) wipes can be dropped off in the office.

The annual CPMS Staff Appreciation Cookie Exchange will take place on Wednesday, 12/20.   Cedar Park teachers and staff are given decorative boxes to take home their favorites from this historically impressive cookie buffet.

Volunteers are needed to provide a dozen homemade or store-bought cookies.  All cookies must be at the school by 10am on Wednesday, 12/20.  Sign-up now to provide a dozen cookies for our hard-working CPMS staff.

PTC-sponsored PACK Store Offers a Variety of Prizes

Cedar Park's PACK store (formerly the PBIS store) is open for business every other Thursday during students' lunch periods, allowing students to turn in their paper PACK tickets (earned from teachers) and choose from a variety of prizes, including tic tacs, pens, socks, games, and other novelty items.

This PTC-sponsored store is a part of CPMS's Positive Behavior Intervention System.  Students earn tickets from teachers and staff by demonstrating behaviors that represent the CPMS pillars:  Perseverance, Acceptance, Courage, Knowledge.

Students can save these tickets for larger prizes, spend as they earn them, or add them to the PACK raffle, which offers fun drawings for gift cards and school swag.

Parents are always needed to operate the PACK store.  Login to myvolunteerpage.com, Opportunities—> School Support —> PACK store to see the available shifts. Any questions can be directed to CPMS's Director of Volunteers, Angela Redmon.

Earned PACK tickets decorate the cafeteria windows.
